Will the Garrett Rd entry to Cross Creek be changing soon?
*UPDATE* Construction began 1/1/12. Please see the bulletin for a map of changes to Garrett Rd.

Yes. As of November 1, 2008 the City of Rogers is in their final stages of approval and will soon begin an extensive re-design to the 90 degree curve on Garrett Rd. This means a total relocation to the entry area into our Cross Creek neighborhood. As we understand it, the city began their consideration of such a change after acquiring land for a new school just west of Cross Creek. The City has said that a large-scale development plan for a proposed elementary school, to be located just south of the intersection of Cross Creek Blvd. and Mt. Hebron Rd, was submitted and approved, but the school system will wait to build the school until demand is warranted with additional occupied residences. This was the main reason for the City’s urgency in making the road modifications to the Cross Creek entry. The existing Cross Creek entryway does have a couple of challenging corners, and the City has decided that traffic flow will be much improved and safer for all after the changes are made. The City explained that they had a great deal of difficulty in opening the new school two years ago, east of town on Old Wire Road. The school opened before the roads and other infrastructure were improved and caused a great deal of traffic problems, and they feel it also endangered people getting children to and from school. They’ve vowed not to make the same mistake twice and therefore have been very proactive to ensure buses and traffic can move freely from Bellview Road, along Garrett Rd and Cross Creek Blvd, and on to the new proposed school on Mt. Hebron Rd.
